The society's main educational and training opportunity comes at the annual conference. Conference attendees can hone their skills, exchange ideas with peers, and purchase services or products from exhibitors.

 

SAVE International® also holds training seminars several times per year. Topics have included:

  • Creativity

  • Facilitation skills

  • Function Analysis System Technique (FAST)

  • Life cycle costing

  • Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

 

Value practitioners also can expand their knowledge through the offerings in SAVE International's product catalog. Choices include books and videos, conference proceedings from past annual conferences, VM marketing tools, and subscriptions to the society's member publications.

What is a “Module I and II” workshop?

The first required course for all levels of certification is an approved Module I workshop. This course consists of a minimum of 20 hours of instruction and 20 hours of live project application.

 

Subject matter includes:

  • History, definitions and job plan

  • Function, FAST, function-cost

  • Creativity

  • People-oriented topics

  • Cost

  • Evaluation and implementation

 

The second required course for CVS certification is the Module II seminar (advanced) consisting of a minimum of 24 hours. Module II attendees should use their Module I knowledge in practice. This practice and experience is essential to a successful Module II.

  • Job plan

  • Function analysis

  • Creativity (advanced)

  • Financial evaluation

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Value management
